My current art brings my life as a painter in Mexico forward. For the 33 years that I lived in Puerto Vallarta I painted with my enamored eyes the beauty of her foliage, people, places and culture. Before I consciously knew that I would leave, Guadalupe came into my heart and painting.
From that inital experience and painting, a whole series emerged that continues to evolve.
These "Apparitions" of the Divine Feminine feel to be a bridge to a new place to live. I still mourn the loss of the first half of my life, The process of imagining them to life and painting them into existence quell my yearning for the quieter, slower pace of my life as artist.
She is my refuge place, just as is painting. For me, the figure of the Divine Feminine has deep roots that transcend cultural definitions. Although Guadalupe was my portal into the Divine Feminine I have sine experienced Her through Tara during the long process of the large painting "Om Tara". I placed Her in a lush pond where She seems to grow from the fecundity all around Her. And equally the growth sprouts from Her.
