Elizabeth Beier is an Albuquerque based painter focusing on nature’s patterns. The first part of her process is to closely observe natural phenomena such as the striations of a canyon or the cool glow of the moon. Then she paints these evocative moments with acrylic onto canvas. She uses a signature feminine, undulating line to evoke divine energy.

For over a decade Beier had a successful career pursuing digital graphic design, illustration, and cartooning. But during and after the slow loss of her father to early onset dementia, her creative well ran dry. The glow of an empty iPad screen felt oppressive and it was hard to write anything that felt true. After moving from California to New Mexico in 2023, Beier decided to approach creativity from a totally different angle: nature painting. Many of her formative memories of her father had been exploring nature, sharing a love of clouds, trees, animals, and mountains. Beier also found a spiritual path leaning towards witchcraft and paganism, with an emphasis on honoring cycles – the turning seasons, night and day, and life and death. Her paintings are a way to connect to her spirituality, her father and other ancestors, and the existential joy of being alive on Earth.
