I grew up on a small farm in Perry, Iowa. As a young child, I spent time from morning to evening running through the creeks and cornfields of the countryside. My childhood days inspired my love of art. My respect and love of nature is reflected in my work. Today I spend time walking along the ditch banks in the North Valley of Los Ranchos. The magnificent cottonwood trees have inspired my "bosque bowls". These are large bowls with cottonwood trees carved along the rim of the bowl. The surrounding landscapes and wildlife have influenced my work. Ravens seem to be appearing on more and more of my pots. I enjoy working with contrasting textures and combining various glazes on both hand built and wheel thrown pieces. Crystalline glazes intrigue me with the bright crystal patterns they form. Experimenting with these glazes are an adventure which I will continue to explore.
