Barbara Fajardo has always been inspired by the subtle color and shadow of the New Mexico landscape. Her father, an accomplished artist himself, moved the family from Louisville to Albuquerque in the early 60’s. Soon after, he opened the largest art supply, frame shop and art school in Hoffmantown Shopping Center, which operated for over 40 years.

Being exposed to art, artists and all sorts of different mediums she finally found her passion with polymer clay. She taught her innovative techniques all over the US and Canada as well as Madrid and Rome.

Since beginning her clay journey in 2000, her work is held in private jewelry collections and has been featured in several publications. Barbara has exhibited her polymer work at NM Arts and Crafts Fair, CAST, The Rio Grande Arts and Crafts Fair and at the Yucca Art Gallery in Old Town for 14 years.

When the pandemic arrived in 2020, Barb decided that it was the perfect time to start experimenting with watercolor which had fascinated her since childhood. Her love of color and pattern easily transitioned to watercolor and other water media.

Her abstract watercolor villages have been shown at The Old Church Fine Arts Show and also the Corrales Craft Show last Fall and Winter. Her paintings are currently showing at GalleryABQ.
